1st seed ❀ video/action for new bark town!
E-Excuse me...
[The voice speaking from the PokéGear is faint and hesitant, and the speaker's face perfectly demonstrates the nervousness laced within her voice. Her eyebrows are furrowed, and her eyes are quivering slightly; she honestly looks frightened out of her mind and a bit pale.]
I... I don't know who's listening, but for those who are, um...
[Juniper pauses, suddenly coughing into her fist, though the fit lasts for nothing more than a minute at the most. She reaches for the sunflower adorning her hat, breathing into it to calm herself down. When she's done, she looks rather sheepish about her recent spell, but it doesn't deter her from continuing to speak.]
My name is Juniper Woods. I just arrived here. I don't, ah, know where I am, or how I got here for that matter... I know that it's called New Bark Town, but...that doesn't really answer my question. I-If anyone could give me an explanation as to what is going on, then I... I would really appreciate it.
[The feed suddenly loses focus as Juniper kneels down, but it quickly returns, now settled on a small seed-like creature: a Sunkern. It looks relatively cheerful, beaming brightly at the camera. As Juniper speaks off-screen, she reaches out a hand to brush one of its leaves gently and almost distractedly. She's still confused as to what's going on, but she doesn't seem to be startled by the creature.]
I understand that...these creatures are known as Pokémon and that we're supposed to go on a journey of some sort with them, but... Um. Well, I-I don't know how to care for Pokémon. I've never...owned one before. This is all so strange...
[The last word of her sentence sounds choked, as if she's sobbing, but her expression doesn't seem to be tearful. Sunkern, concerned, seems to nudge Juniper's hand in an effort to calm her down. She flashes the Pokémon a grateful smile and returns to her feet, facing the camera towards her again.]
A-Ah, I... I'm sorry about that. But, um, like I said before, if...anyone could help me out, I'd really appreciate it. O-Oh! One last thing... I was wondering if any of you have seen or heard of my friends...? Their names are Athena Cykes, Apollo Justice, Robin Newman, Hugh O'Conner, and Phoenix Wright. If you've seen them, could you please let them know that I'm here? ...T-Thank you.

[video]
[Now there's a name he hasn't heard in a very long time.]
Such a man was once present here, but he was returned home years ago. My apologies. Have your other friends contacted you?
[video]
[She offers a gentle smile before it falters slightly.]
A-And no, they haven't... I don't know if they're here for sure, but I figured I would try anyway. If you said that Mr. Wright was here before, then...it's possible they may be here as well.
[video]
[Well, now, he'll just have to try to bring it back.]
Even if they happen to not be here at the moment, your presence might draw them to this world. It's happened quite a few times before, so I can keep an ear out for any of those names, if you wish.
[video]
[She seems a bit more chipper now at the very least.]
Is...um, is this common?
[video]
[video]
[...It's convenient to receive supplies though, she'll admit.]
So, what is it we're supposed to do after receiving those things?
[video]
[Besides, considering the average team level for the locals, he doubts they could force foreign trainers to do anything if they tried.]
[video]
[Though it's hardly anything of an ultimate goal for her.]
Or maybe I'll find a job, too, once I've settled down...
[video]
[Good cities, though. Useful cities.]
But you'll have plenty of time to think about that over the next few weeks. In the meantime, you should enjoy the sights and your new Sunkern friend.

That's a shame, probably.
Either way, Nonon will wait until she's done with that broadcast of hers to approach her; she's not exactly crazy about the idea of being caught on camera, not until she knows who's out there. But when she does make her way up to her, it's with confidence and a smile, and her voice is almost too perky when she speaks.]
So it sounds like you don't know what's going on here either - that's too bad, I was hoping somebody would...
[She trails off a little, almost thoughtfully, as she readjusts her stance, settling one of her hands on her hip; there's a bit of a squeak from behind her as she shifts her weight, coming from a little Whismur peeking out from behind one of her white boots.]
I just got here a couple of hours ago. Did you have some strange woman saying she's your mother, too?
[action]
O-Oh! ...Y-Yeah, that happened to me, too... I don't know who she is, and I am pretty sure I've never been here before...
[Honestly, she doesn't even know why she's entertaining that thought; of course she knows she hasn't been here before. Juniper's eyes wander before falling onto the other's Whimsur, and her own Sunkern trills quietly.]
You've gotten one, too... Did the woman tell you about how we're supposed to go on a journey with these, ah, Pokémon...?
[action]
[...]
The lunch was pretty good, though, I'll give her that.
[Because that is totally the point here.]
I've been talking to the people in town - they all live in the same sort of middle-class place, from the look of it, so I figured they'd have some idea of what's going on. Like maybe they'd have some sort of connection at least, right? But the most I got is that everyone's really excited about these Pokémon things and the next town's three days over.
[action]
[action]
Well, she's not usually used to people with such a nervous disposition - no, seriously, what happened to you - but on the other hand, the idea of wandering around for three days by herself isn't the most appealing thing in the world, either.]
That sounds pretty good!
[SMILING, so much smiling, so happy we're gonna die dear god it's going to be a long trip for everyone.]
So where're you from, Sunbeam? You don't look like you're from anywhere I know of.
[action]
Oh, I'm from California, but I lived up in the mountains rather than the main city. Where are you from?
[action]
[She doesn't sound judgmental about it at least; just thinking.]
I'm from Japan, near Tokyo Bay! The place is called Honnouji Academy; we lived there. Sort of like boarding school, I guess.
["Sort of."]
It was nothing like this, though. We didn't have the weird animals, either.
[action]
[As if that wasn't obvious from the start.]
I agree. Where I'm from, we didn't have these animals either...but they seem friendly enough.

[Everything about Juniper seems to trigger Garry's protective instincts, and he keeps his voice soft and soothing as he speaks in hopes that can help a little bit.]
You don't have to worry about taking care of your Pokemon too much. It's not nearly as hard as it may seem. You seem to have a sweetheart on your hands as well, so I'm positive that everything will turn out just fine for you.
My name is Garry, by the way.
video;
Y-Yeah, he's been nothing but sweet so far...which is why I want to do my best for him in return. But if you say it's not that hard, then...I-I feel like I can do this.
[Once she figures out what it is she's supposed to do, anyway.]
I-It's nice to meet you, Garry. I'm Juniper, as I've said... Um, do you know exactly where it is that we're supposed to go on our journey...?
video;
[He... sort of has an idea of what he's doing here, after all.]
Ah, well... It seems that for people who are 'trainers', they should challenge gyms and go along that path... but for breeders like myself, it seems a little more loose. Goldenrod City is a good place to settle down in for a while. It has a Breeding Center, and a lot of shops, so it's very helpful.
video;
[Well, that's the best advice she's heard all day.]
I'm a breeder as well, so I'll head to Goldenrod City. ...Is there any advice for breeding that I need to know?
video;
Well... Since you're still new, you'll want to be very careful with which Pokemon you leave alone together. If they're the same breeding type, then they might lay eggs. Since you just have one for now, you should be alright...
Oh, and this is something everyone should know, not just breeders- but don't try to go up any ledges, alright?
[She looks awfully frail. He wouldn't want her to get hurt.]
video;
[She would feel more at ease settling down in Goldenrod with a familiar face there.]
And I'll be careful not to do either of those things, too. ...Thank you very much for the advice, Garry.
video;
[He gives a quiet laugh.]
There's a library here in Goldenrod... If you'd like, I could look up some other things about breeding and send them to you. Maybe it will help.
video;
[The chance to read them would probably be postponed until she arrived at the next town, but it's the sentiment that counts.]
